Meet Sally, Founder of Mindful Interlude

Hi, I’m Sally Singleton and I’m passionate about bringing mindfulness into the workplace.

Working with ethical, people-first companies creating a culture of high performance and happiness, and developing an environment where staff thrive, feel empowered and valued and where everyone wants to work, is why I do what I do!

I spent 14 years in the corporate world and the higher I went up the ranks the more stressed I became. The perfectionism, the imposter syndrome, and the pressure of running teams and delivering on targets meant I often felt overwhelmed or out of my depth. I even left a couple of roles because of the pressure from management (or maybe the pressure I put on myself!).

It was only when I had my first child that I learnt of the psychological and neuroscientific research on the benefits of mindfulness. I never looked back!

Every now and then I wish I’d known about mindfulness back then, it would have saved me from a lot of stress and from making so many mistakes. It would have taken me out of my fixed mindset, to be less reactive, more positive, and calmer. I’d have made more rational and intentional decisions and felt more in control.

With over a decade of experience in corporate learning and development, I bring a unique perspective to mindfulness. My expertise lies in understanding the specific needs of each organisation allowing me to develop tailored programs that address unique workplace challenges and aspirations. This ensures that employees receive the support they need on an individual level to excel together.

Mindful Workplace Lead for the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA)

I’m also the Membership Relations and Mindful Workplace Lead for the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA) where BAMBA is the UK’s primary professional body of mindfulness practitioners, teachers and teacher training organisations.

II love working in this role, supporting our members in delivering mindfulness to the highest standards of practice, while also nurturing a community of mindfulness teachers in the corporate and workplace sectors.

Graduating from Mindfulness

My mindfulness training

I have a Master’s in Mindfulness-Based Teaching from Bangor and am qualified to teach Mindfulness Based Cognititve Therapy for Life through the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation.

I have also attended training with the UK Mindfulness Network and qualified with the Mindfulness In Schools Programme in teaching children.

I am registered with British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA). This is a body of professional teachers who have a recognised, high standard of training, experience and ongoing professional practice in order to teach safely and effectively.

When I’m not teaching…

I’m practicing mindfulness as much as I can which, as you can imagine, means I’m a much calmer and kinder mum and wife.

I have two gorgeous children and we live in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

We LOVE to go on holiday and have lots of fun adventures. When I was younger, I spent months/years travelling the world as it was my passion. Understandably, this has been put on hold somewhat whilst the kids are young. I’m hoping they may also gain the travel bug once they’re old enough!
